Public input is again requested before this proposal is presented by Pulte Homes and Harmony Development Group at the Special Development Commission Meeting, Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 6:00 pm in the upstairs hearing room of the Michael B. Coleman Government Center, 111 N. Front Street, Columbus. If approved, this item will move forward to Columbus City Council for its consideration.

Melissa Green, Liaison with the Columbus Department of Neighborhoods, said at our Feb. 26 regular meeting that she’s received a few emails from residents concerned or opposed to rezoning request Z18-058, also known as Sugar Farm/Renner South, but not as many as she expected given the turnout at each meeting where the developers have presented their plans. BE PROACTIVE! HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO!
If you have responded with a sad, shocked or angry emoji or indicated your concerns about the Sugar Farm / Renner South development on social media, but have NOT written a letter to City of Columbus Staff or to your Elected Officials, then your voice is still not being heard! THIS CAN BE OVERWHELMING, BUT THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW. This includes residents in this area that live within Columbus, Hilliard, Norwich Township, Brown Township and Prairie Township. Residents from ALL jurisdictions will be impacted and have the opportunity to share in asking for a responsible, appropriate, environmentally-protective, sustainable, low-impact build.

Letters need to be emailed by Wednesday, March 6, 2019 end-of-day. Please do not wait. This is important! Letters will then be compiled and forwarded to City Planners and Staff, and the Development Commission Members, PRIOR to the meeting for them to read.

2. ATTEND THE DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MEETING!
It is important for the Development Commission Members to see strong opposition to a proposed development if residents have concerns, or it is natural for them to assume everyone is OK with it proceeding. Please mark your calendar TO ATTEND this meeting if you have concerns!

WRITE A LETTER. It does NOT have to be long. BE SPECIFIC, ADD DATA AND PHOTOS SHOWING CURRENT CONDITIONS. Ask your neighbors and friends to write too! If you have concerns or comments, your letter needs to be submitted by March 6 to be included in the stack of papers on their desk the next day.
